Guided wade or float fly fishing trips on the Animas and San Juan Quality Waters
Fall is here with warm days, cool nights, afternoon showers and fantastic fly fishing for trophy trout on the San Juan River Quality Waters and the Animas River near Durango Colorado. Animas Valley Anglers offers year-round professionally guided float and wade fly fishing trips on all the great waters of the Southwest including the famous San Juan below Navajo Dam, Animas, Rio Grande, Dolores, Pine, Florida, mountain creeks, private waters and regional lakes. Beginners to experts welcome.

The Animas continues to be on a rollercoaster of clear to stained water due heavy storms. The Animas is a year-round fishery that flows from Silverton down-stream through Durango Colorado. AVA offers wade and float-fishing trips on over 70 miles on the Gold Medal section, private waters, head-waters and upper Animas via historic train.

San Juan flows are between 750 and 650 cfs and fishing is good to lights-out. All three sections are fishing well with midges, BWOs, PMDs, PADs, caddis, ants and hoppers. The Mid River float has been fantastic for kids and adults alike looking for lots of action. AVA offers year-round float and wade trips on all three sections of the Juan.

The Rio Grande is low and clear. Hatches are sporadic, but hoppers, BWOs and caddis are getting fish to the fly. AVA offers miles and miles of float fishing near Creede Colorado and down-stream through South Fork. The Rio is one of Colorado's premier Gold Medal fisheries and is in the TOP 5 of our most popular trips. The Rio is for the dry fly fanatic to say the least.

We will be back on Root Pond and Hatcher Lake near Pagosa Springs some time this fall. These trophy lakes offer anglers a shot at big fish. Enjoy sight-fishing midges, cali beatis, hoppers, damsel dries, leeches and buggers to monster rainbows from the comfort of a drift boat. Beginners & veterans alike have discovered how much fun our still waters are.

The upper San Juan is low are clear with good fishing. We had a strong season, once again proving we are the top guide service on this fishery during float season. The Upper Juan has a strong trout population and stunning scenery. AVA guided float trips are available when flows and conditions allow. For more details simply click a link.

The mountain streams are fishing very well. Alpine creeks offer fly anglers endless opportunities to cast fluffy dries and beaded nymphs to pretty trout in our most scenic areas of the Southwest. AVA offers numerous high country fishing adventures for any ability level. Easy walks, moderate hikes or big adventures are available.

The Dolores is currently low and clear as it flows out from McPhee Reservoir. Terrestrials, BWOs and a few PMDs, PADs and PINKIES still hatching. This wild canyon is full of deer, bears, rattlesnakes, mountain lions, tall pines and a small handful of technical trout. This stream will test the skills of the most ardent angler. Upper "D" has low flows and good fishing.
