3-20-06 Spring Fly Fishing
The Animas, San Juan and Root Pond are fishing well. The days are getting longer and the temps are mild, making for great fishing. Ignore rumors of drought and dry rivers; the snow pack looks great due to a big storm that dumped over 100 inches of snow in some areas!

Animas: A daily hatch of BWO's and midges. Thick hatch with fish on nymphs and dries.
San Juan: Blanket hatch of midges, with some BWO's showing in the afternoons.
Root Pond: Fish are bigger than last year and very healthy due to a diet of midges, damsels and may flies.

Book now for a spring fly fishing adventure on one of these fisheries.

Alert! Wild Steelhead and Salmon are Threatened!
As stewards of wild places, it is our responsibility to inform all of you about issues that threaten not only trout and ecosystems close to home, but also those that affect us globally. One of the biggest fights right now is against the introduction of fish farms off the coast of BC. They threaten to destroy wild stocks of steelhead and salmon. These fish are very important to so many people, including all of us here at AvA. Please check out our new conservation page for more information and how to get involved. This page will change a lot over the next little while, so please check back regularly.
